Jackson police say they have at least one suspect in the death of a man who was killed when he was struck and dragged by a sport utility vehicle.Police say 41-year-old Valentine Rivera was killed early Saturday in the incident at Jackson Fairgrounds Park.
The Jackson Sun reported a fight broke out at a private wedding reception at the fairgrounds. Police said Rivera tried to help two men who were being beaten and was run over by the SUV, which backed over him and dragged him, then ran over him again after the driver shifted to a forward gear.
Capt. Mike Holt said police are investigating Rivera’s death as a homicide, but specific charges will depend on what the investigation reveals.
