Walker Vaughn

Walker Vaughn finished high school with a 98.9 cumulative average while playing baseball for the Tigers. He also earned a score of 32 on his ACT. He will major in pre-med for radiology at the University of Mississippi, where he received the Ole Miss Academic Excellence scholarship. Vaughn received the Gold Glove award for his performance on the baseball field his senior season. He was also on the 2011 District All-Academic Team and was named the Rotary Scholar Athlete of the Year. In addition to playing baseball, he was a member of the National Honor Society and the Recycling Club. Vaughn said the most difficult part of maintaining such high grades while playing a sport was time management, especially when road games led to late nights. However, he made plans that enabled him to stay ahead of his assignments in order to succeed. He is the son of David and Jean Anne Vaughn.

Kelsey Winborn

Kelsey Winborn is the Lady Tiger Scholar Athlete of the Year, finishing with a 99.7 cumulative average while being a member of the Tiger Motion Dance Team. She is her class’s salutatorian and plans to attend the University of Mississippi to major in biology in the pre-pharmacy program. Winborn was captain of the dance team as a senior, and she won superior ribbons in dance all four years of her high school career. She was named Universal Dance Association All American for both her junior and senior years. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, the Vocational Honor Society, the English Honorarium, the Student Council, Just Say No, Tiger Tales, Tiger Radio, Quill and Scroll, and Sub Debs. She was a Delta Kappa Gamma writing contest winner. Winborn’s attitude was key to her success as both a student and an athlete. She advises younger students to, “Never give up because nothing is impossible. I would also say to keep your head up and always strive to do your best.” She is the daughter of Blake and Sherry Winborn.

Andrew Aristorenas

Golfer Andrew Aristorenas was AHS’s salutatorian this year, finishing with a 98.8 cumulative average. While he clearly excelled in the classroom, he also displayed talent as a golfer. He was the 2010 Region Champion, and he won the 2009 Hardin County Invitational. He recently signed to continue his golf career at Christian Brother University, and he plans to become a biomedical engineer. Aristorenas was also a member of HOSA, the Beta Club, DECA, and the National Spanish Honors Society. He was named to the Farmer and Merchants Bank Hall of Fame. He believes he was able to succeed because he made his grades his first priority. “In my opinion, keep school first,” he said. He is the son of Jonathan and Stephanie Aristorenas.

Abby Dickey

In addition to playing golf, she was in DECA, Beta Club, the National Spanish Honors Society, the AHS Chorus, and a volunteer for the Adamsville Arts Council and Imagination Library.
