Tigers split with North Side

The Hardin County High School baseball team won two of three games last week against Jackson North Side and Adamsville. The Tigers split a doubleheader with North Side and defeated Adamsville on Saturday morning.

North Side 8, Tigers 4

North Side picked up an 8-4 victory in the first game of a doubleheader last week against Hardin County. The Indians jumped in front by a score of 7-1 after two innings. Hardin County cut the lead to 7-4 in the third but couldn’t pull any closer.

Walker Vaughn was charged with the loss for the Tigers. Barker Burnham pitched the final five innings and only allowed one run. Jordan Lambert had a solo home run in the game for Hardin County. Dillon Rooker had a two-run single, and Stephen Gobbell added a RBI double for the Tigers.

Tigers 1, North Side 0

Corey Jerrolds pitched a complete game shutout for the Tigers in the other game of the doubleheader on Tuesday. Jerrolds allowed only two hits and struck out four in the victory.

The Tigers scored the only run of the game in the top of the seventh inning. Stephen Gobbell led off the inning with a single. After Cade Smtih moved Gobbell into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, Harrison Johnson had a pinch hit double to score what proved to be the game-winning run.

Tigers 14, Cardinals 7

After trailing 4-3 after three innings, Hardin County scored 13 runs in the final three innings to pick up the win. Kendall Adkisson tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. Barker Burnham followed with a RBI double, and Dylan Moore had a RBI groundout to give the Tigers a 6-3 lead.

Adamsville cut the lead to 6-5 after the fourth inning. Hardin County responded with an eight-run inning in the fifth. Stephen Gobbell started the inning with a solo home run. Cade Smith added a RBI single to give the Tigers an 8-5 lead. Burnham put even more separation on the scoreboard with a 3-run home run to give the Tigers a 12-5 advantage in the fifth inning.
