Cardinals dominate Riverside
The AHS Cardinal soccer team defeated Riverside 8-0 last Thursday, scoring seven of their goals in the first half.“Our team played well together and had fun doing it. Riverside is young and rebuilding this season. They gave a great effort, and both teams got a little bit better today,” said Cardinal coach Steven Price.
While Price was pleased with the efforts of the entire team, he was especially excited that Brandon Luna posted his first hat trick by scoring the team’s first three goals.
One of Luna’s goals was on an assist by Chris Luna. Chris then scored the team’s next two goals, one on an assist by Dustin Sowell.
Justin Salazar posted another goal for the Cardinals, and Sowell scored a goal of his own on an assist by Christian Yanok. Jack Majors added the Cards’ final goal with an assist by Dustin Plunk.
Goal keeper Josh Shoate recorded four saves in the shutout win.
