Tigers split four games in Warrior Classic

The Hardin County High School baseball team traveled to Middle Tennessee for the Warrior Classic last weekend. The Tigers won two of their four games in the tournament. Hardin County is now 9-4 on the season.

Hardin County put together 18 hits in their 12-run victory over Page on Saturday. The Tigers led the game 10-3 after three innings and outscored their opponent 6-1 in the final four innings.

Walker Vaughn picked up the win for the Tigers. He struck out seven and scattered seven hits in the complete game victory. Vaughn was also 4-for-4 with a home run, triple, and four RBIs.

Dylan Moore also had a good game at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Jordan Lambert was 3-for-4 for Hardin County. Barker Burnham, Stephen Gobbell, and B.J. Shutt each picked up two hits. Shutt also had two RBIs in the game.

Tigers 10, Shelbyville 5

Hardin County scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a close game on Saturday. Barker Burnham picked up the win in relief of starter B.J. Shutt. Shutt pitched the first three innings, and Burnham logged the final four innings of work.

Cade Smith and Barker Burnham each had a home run in the pivotal seventh inning. Smith had a 3-run home run, and Burnham had a solo home run in the final inning of play. Jordan Lambert was 2-for-3 with a double. Walker Vaughn and B.J. Shutt each had two RBIs in the game.

Spring Hill 3, Tigers 1

Hardin County was held to only five hits in their two-run loss to Spring Hill on Friday night. Corey Jerrolds allowed only six hits and three runs, but was charged with the loss. Barker Burnham was 2-for-3 with a double for Hardin County. Dillon Rooker, Harrison Johnson, and Jerrolds each had one hit for the Tigers.

Lavergne 9, Tigers 3

Lavergne outscored Hardin County 6-1 over the final four innings to defeat the Tigers on Friday. Jon Tyler Roach was charged with the loss. Barker Burnham was 3-for-3 to lead the Tigers at the plate. Walker Vaughn and Kade Winborn each had a pair of hits and a RBI in the game. Jordan Lambert also had a RBI with a sacrifice fly in the game.
