HCHS tennis teams look for winning season

The tennis teams from Hardin County High School are hopeful of a good season this year, and head coach Bill Sharp feels both groups have potential. However, it will be a rebuilding year for the groups. “We lost a lot of players and are suffering from graduation and inexperience. It just will be that kind of year,” he said.

They boys lost four of last year’s starting players to graduation, but Sharp believes his new group has talent. Dakota McPherson is the only returning player and the only senior on the team.” Dakota McPherson and Dylan Bhakta will anchor a young men’s team with help from Caleb Boswell, Elliot Burgess and Josh White,” stated Sharp. Eli Baker, Jacob Haynes, and Michael Riddle are freshmen members of the team.

For the Lady Tiger tennis team, Sharp is excited about the return of senior Mallory Mathis. “She has a good shot at going all the way to the state tournament,” he said. “Brittany Guyer and Rachel Smith are getting stronger every time they play. Senior Abby Zavatchen and freshman Dorothy Roth will make solid contributions,” he added. Bobbie Joe Delaney and Skye Partain are also on the Lady Tigers team.
