AHS tennis gets swinging
The Adamsville Cardinal tennis teams have spent many hours on the court preparing for the 2011 season, and head coach Michael Harvill is hopeful their hard work will pay off.Harvill is anticipating an excellent season for the boys, especially as all five starters are seniors. Three players, Hayden Edmondson, Zach Congiardo, and Sam Young have played all four years of high school.
His top two players, Edmondson and Congiardo, finished first in their district in doubles competition last year. They were eliminated from the tournament in the semi-finals. Harvill expects them to do well again this season.
Rounding out the top five for the boys this year are Seth White and Kameron McDaniel. Other boys on the team are Josh Warshaw, Colton Williams, Anthony Trumble, and Kerby Harville, Cameron Gramse.
The girls will face a rebuilding year as they lost three of their five starters from last year’s team. However, Harvill is confident they will improve as the season progresses.
Leading the Lady Cardinals will be Darby Congiardo. Harvill believes she will be one of the top players in the district and thinks she has a good chance of winning tournament.
The other top five Lady Cardinals are Hayley Edmondson, Kasandra Krenson, Maddie Wilson, and Ali Gean. Other girls on the team are Megan Thomas, Crystal Lewis, Allison Smarsh, and Kanesha Wright.
The team’s first home match will be Monday against Trinity Christian.
