Diamond Tigers face several tough opponents

The Hardin County High School baseball team got off to a fast start with wins in their first six games. However, the Tigers ran into some tough teams in their second week of action this spring. Hardin County lost two of their three contests last week. The Tigers are now 7-2 on the season.

Tigers 18, Adamsville 8

Hardin County scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a close game to defeat the Cardinals last week on the diamond. Adamsville led the game by a score of 8-6 before Hardin County outscored them 12-0 in the final two innings.

Dylan Moore had a pair of three-run home runs in the final two innings of play. Moore finished the game 2-for-5 with six RBIs. Jordan Lambert was 5-for-6. Dillon Rooker was 4-for-4. Cade Smith and Barker Burnham each had two hits. Harrison Johnson had a two-run double for the Tigers.

Corey Jerrolds (3-1) was credited with the win for the Tigers on the mound.

Riverside 10, Tigers 0

Riverside used a seven-run inning in the third to give them a big lead against the Tigers last week. Hardin County only managed three hits in their game with Riverside last week. Corey Jerrolds suffered the loss for the Tigers. Barker Burnham picked up two of the three hits for the Tigers. Stephen Gobbell had the other hit for Hardin County.

Dyer County 12, Tigers 1

Dyer County scored nine runs in the final three innings to break open a close game. The Choctaws led the game 4-1 after three innings. Hardin County managed eight hits in the game, but could only push across one run in the game. Cade Smith was 2-for-3 with a solo home run to lead the Tigers at the plate. Barker Burnham was charged with the loss on the mound.
