Lady Tigers expect good season
The Lady Tiger softball team had an outstanding season last year, finishing with a 20-12 record and won the first district tournament title in school history. However, they graduated four seniors and only have two seniors and two juniors returning to the field. Despite their youth, head coach Jason Dennis is confident the team will post wins again this year.“We will be very young, but many of the girls have played a lot of softball. I expect to have our share of struggles early but improve by tournament time,” he said.
Dennis has several key players who will be counted on heavily. Katie McGee will man first base and pitch after finishing last year with .310 average and 24 RBIs. Kaitlin Snyder will be catcher, and Katie Terry will play third. Karlee Wyatt will return to the outfield after missing last year due to a knee injury.
The team also has a couple of specific strengths that will help them succeed. “Our pitching should keep us in most games,” said Dennis. “We also have quite a bit of speed.” Assistant coaches for the team are Spence Shutt and Lauren McFall.
