Lady Cardinals hopeful despite age of team
The Lady Cardinal softball team graduated eight starters last year, but head coach Todd McGee is confident that the team will be successful this season.“They are young, but they are willing to learn,” he said. “We are going to try to get better every game. The girls will gain confidence as we go.”
One of the main concerns for Adamsville is pitching. Last year’s team finished with a record of 16-19, and they graduated two pitchers who had started for six years, Magen Fullwood and Halley Beckham. However, McGee believes his team has two pitchers who can fill their shoes in sophomores Taylor Hutton and Samantha Oaks.
Other key players for the Lady Cardinals are Whitney Wrzesnieski at first, Corrie Hill in right field, and Brittany Lambert at catcher. McGee feels his team will be in the mix to land a top three spot in the district at the end of the season. He believes Riverside and Trinity Christian will be their top competition as neither team graduated many seniors.
