Cardinals prepare for season
The Adamsville Cardinal baseball team is hopeful for another solid season on the diamond under head coach Steve Lambert. The Cardinals finished the 2010 season at the state tournament and finished the season with a record of 25-20.The Cardinals have five seniors on this year’s roster in Will Erwin, Bradley Melton, Wayne Replogle, Jake Martin and Zach Robinson. Adamsville also has five juniors who will be counted on to help with leadership this spring.
Lambert feels like some of the strengths of this year’s team include better situational hitting, an experienced pitching staff, and better overall team defense. The Cardinal head coach is hopeful that this year’s team will compete at a high level again in 2011.
The Cardinals got started with their 2011 campaign on Monday in a tournament in Jackson. Adamsville lost to USJ by a score of 7-3. Drew Griswell (0-1) was charged with the loss on the mound. Hunter McSwain and Kasy Hurley each had a hit and a RBI in the game.
Adamsville made four errors in the game that led to run-scoring opportunities for the Bruins. USJ only managed five hits in the game. Adamsville had four hits in the season opener.
