Adamsville teams split at Chester; Wayne County
The Adamsville basketball teams split each of their contests between Chester County and Wayne County last week. The Lady Cardinals picked up a victory against Chester County, and the Cardinals defeated Wayne County. The Cardinals improved to 3-1 overall on the season. Adamsville used a 22-15 surge in the fourth quarter to pick up the five-point win against Wayne County last week. The Cardinals led the game 17-9 after the first quarter and held a 32-21 lead at halftime. Wayne County took the lead at 41-39 after three quarters before the late Cardinal rally.
Jake Martin was the leading scorer for the Cardinals with 24 points. Will Erwin also finished the game in double figures in scoring with 10 points. Jacob Hendon had nine points and 13 assists. Chester County handed Adamsville their first loss of the season in last week’s matchup between the two teams. Chester County outscored Adamsville 44-30 in the first half and maintained their double digit lead in the final two quarters. Josh Shoate was the top scorer for Adamsville in the game with 21 points. Shoate also pulled down nine rebounds.

Lady Cardinals 51, Chester County 48
Adamsville pulled out a tight victory against Chester County last week. The Lady Cardinals led 27-23 at halftime before the Lady Eagles cut the lead to 35-34 after three quarters. Adamsville outscored Chester County 16-14 in the final quarter to pull out the victory. Brianne Knight led the Lady Cardinals in scoring with 23 points.

Wayne County built an early lead and held off a late Adamsville rally to pick up the seven-point victory. Wayne County outscored Adamsville 17-6 in the first quarter and also held a 29-20 halftime advantage. The Lady Wildcats expanded on their lead in the third quarter to take a 47-31 advantage. Adamsville outscored Wayne County 17-8 in the final eight minutes, but couldn’t pull even.
