Dyer County shuts out Hardin County
Hardin County suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night after Dyer County defeated them by a score of 35-0. The Choctaws led 14-0 at halftime and added 21 points in the final two quarters.The Tigers had a tough time getting things going offensively against Dyer County on Friday. Hardin County totaled 87 rushing yards and only 76 passing yards in the game. On the other side of the ball, Dyer County accounted for 358 total yards, including 203 rushing yards. Quarterback Barker Burnham completed 10-of-21 passes for 76 yards. Runnning back Daniel Avila was held to 21 yards on eight carries. Coty Eanes had 45 yards rushing on six carries for Hardin County.
Steven Rich led the defensive unit with 14 total tackles in the game. Jopp Bizzell was second with nine total stops. Josh Ivey had eight tackles, and Steven Gobbell accounted for seven total tackles.
Tiger head coach William McAdams was not happy with the way the Tigers performed in their last regular season home game of the season. “They (Dyer County) came over here hungry, and it showed on the field. They had a tough loss the week before and came over here and did some regrouping. We didn’t play well, and because of that we didn’t create many opportunities in the game,” said McAdams.
The loss was the first of the season for the Tigers. Hardin County is now 5-1 on the season.
