Lady Cards defeat Southside

The Lady Cardinal soccer team got an important district win last week when they defeated South Side last week. They also faced Sacred Heart of Jesus, a private school in Jackson, in a game that ended in a tie. The team currently has a season record of 3-5-2.

The team started their week with a 3-1 defeat of South Side. Head coach Rebecca Ashe was pleased with the win. “We played much better today. It was a good team effort and a big district win. We are excited to have Chloe (Mullis) back and if everyone can stay healthy, we can pick up some big wins,” she said.

Mullis had missed several games due to injury. She scored the team’s first goal off Corrie Hill’s corner kick. Hill scored the team’s second goal on an assist by Elisabeth Churchwell, and Samantha Oaks added the team’s final score. Goal tenders Kristina Milford and Olivia Wright each recorded three saves in the game.

The team ended in a 2-2 tied with Sacred Heart of Jackson. Darby Culver scored on an assist by Mullis, and Mullis scored Adamsville’s second goal of the game. Milford made five saves in the game, and Wright recorded two.

Adamsville was scheduled to play McNairy on Tuesday, but the results weren’t known at press time. They will face Madison today (Thursday) in another district game.
