Lady Cards fall to Bobcats
The Lady Cardinals faced county rival McNairy Central last Thursday and came away with a 6-3 defeat. Head coach Rebecca Ashe saw several areas for improvement in her team.“We did well up to two minutes to go in the first half. We gave up two goals in two minutes and were down 3-0 at the half. We did a much better job in the second half, but we still made some mistakes,” she said. “We have to correct some things with our defense and make a better effort. We will keep practicing and do our best to get better. We have to do it quickly because we have some tough district games coming up.”
The Lady Bobcats actually scored the Lady Cardinals’ first goal when they knocked it in their own goal on a cross by Corrie Hill. Brittany Lambert scored later in the second half, and Elisabeth Churchwell added their final goal. Goaltender Kristina Milford recorded 18 saves in the match.
The team was scheduled to play Lexington on Tuesday, but results weren’t known at press time. They will face Liberty today (Thursday).
