Local teams head to Dixie World Series
The 11-and-12 year old and 13-14 year-old Dixie Youth teams from Savannah will be playing in the Dixie Youth World Series this week. The 11-and-12 team will be playing in Lexington, South Carolina, and the 13-and-14 year team will be playing in Christianburg, Virginia.The 11-and-12 team will open World Series play with a game against Nacogdoches American from Texas on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm (CDT). With a victory in their first game, Savannah would play at 7 pm on Sunday night. If they lose in their first game, Savannah would then play at 2 pm on Sunday. The tournament is double-elimination and is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, August 5.
The 13-and-14 team will play their first game on Saturday against Monroe, Louisiana at noon (CDT). With a victory in their first game, Savannah would play on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm. With a loss in their first game, Savannah would play on Sunday afternoon at noon. The tournament is double-elimination and is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, August 4.
