Local 14-under team wins Dixie state title

The Hardin County 14-under Dixie baseball team won the state title last week in Dyersburg. The local team finished the tournament with an overall record of 6-1 and outscored their opponents 75-18 en route to their state championship.

The state title gives the Hardin County team a berth in the Dixie World Series. The World Series is scheduled for Christianburg, Virginia and will be from July 31 through August 4. Hardin County is scheduled to play their first game against Louisiana at 1 p.m. on July 31. Team members include Jon Abdon, Kendall Adkisson, Grant Alexander, Trevor Bishop, Dillon Bonee, Ronald Casey, Dalton Caviness, Ben Hopper, Matt Mathis, Logan Snelling, Steven White, and Alex Wilkerson.

Hardin County 10, Madison Central 0

Hardin County’s Trevor Bishop picked up a complete game victory against Madison Central last week. Bishop allowed only two hits and struck out four batters in four innings of work. Logan Snelling, Kendall Adkisson, Dalton Caviness, and Bishop each picked up a pair of hits in the game for Hardin County. Snelling scored three runs and Steven White crossed the plate twice in the game.

McNairy County 10, Hardin County 9

Hardin County rallied from a 10-3 deficit to score six runs in the sixth inning, but came up one run short in their first matchup with McNairy County in the state tournament. Logan Snelling, Ronald Casey, and Grant Alexander each had two hits in the game. Alexander and Steven White each scored a pair of runs for Hardin County.

Hardin County 14, McNairy County 4

Hardin County came back in the next game against McNairy County to defeat them by 10 runs in six innings to claim the state championship. Trevor Bishop picked up the complete game victory for Hardin County. He struck out eight batters in six innings of work.

Kendall Adkisson and Steven White each picked up four hits in the game for Hardin County. Adkisson also scored three runs and had four RBIs. White scored three runs in the game as well. Logan Snelling, Ronald Casey, and Ben Hopper each had two hits in the game. The Hardin County teams has plans to hold a fundraising car wash on Saturday at City Hall from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
