13-14s headed to Dixie State Tournament
The Savannah 13-14 year-old all-stars qualified for the state tournament with their play in last week’s district tournament at Mt. Pleasant. The Savannah team won three of their four games to advance to the championship game. The championship game was scheduled after press time this week, but the top two teams qualify for the state tournament, which will start on July 9 in Dyersburg.Savannah picked up a win against Wayne County in their first game by a score of 29-1. All twelve Savannah players picked up a hit in the 28-run victory. Ben Hopper and Logan Snelling pitched for Savannah.
The Hardin County team picked up a 4-3 win over Mt. Pleasant in their second game. Grant Alexander had two hits to lead them at the plate. Steven White, Ronald Casey, Trevor Bishop, and Dalton Caviness each had a hit. White, Kendal Adkisson, and Bishop combined to pitch in the game for Savannah.
Collinwood gave Savannah their only loss last week by a score of 5-2. Steven White had two hits for the local team. Snelling, Alexander, and Caviness each had one hit. White, Adkisson, and Bishop again combined to pitch the game for Savannah.
Savannah picked up a 10-3 win against Collinwood to advance them to the championship game. Snelling, Adkisson, Alexander, and Caviness each had two hits for Savannah. The trio of Bishop, White, and Adkisson went the distance on the mound.
