HCMS finishes perfect season

The Hardin County Middle School softball team recently finished their season, ending with a perfect 12-0 record. Coach Chuck Patton was extremely pleased with the team’s finish.

“Coach Sam Bible and I have been extremely fortunate and blessed to have the privilege of coaching such gifted and talented young ladies,” he said. “Year after year they exceed all expectations and goals set for them. I feel very lucky to just ‘reload’ with talented athletes every year.”

According to Patton, eighth graders Kara Boyd, Kelsey McAfee, Audri Jerrolds, and Courtney Simmons finished their middle school careers with an impressive record of 39-1.

Kara Boyd was outstanding on the pitcher’s mound, posting ten wins, no losses, and 101 strikeouts. She threw two no-hitters, and also had four games with only one hit and two with only two hits.

Ade Hosea led the team at the plate with a .645 batting average. She also posted one win on the mound.

Other players who had good seasons at the plate were Kelsey McAfee (.535), Kara Boyd (.517), Morgan Robertson (.481), Audri Jerrolds (.444), Anna Beth Willoughby (.440), Brook Cossey (.433), Caila Smith (.384), Shelby Martin (.360), and Nicole Reed (.333).

Nicole Reed and Anna Willoughby pitched all the B-games for the team, combining for an 11-1 season record.
