AHS soccer defeats McNairy in region tournament game
The Cardinals faced county rival two times during their regular season, losing once and ending in a tie the other. However, when the two teams faced off in the first round of the region tournament, the Cardinals came away with a 2-0 victory and ended the Bobcats’ season. However, the Adamsville team fell to Madison Academic in the second round of region to end their postseason hopes. The team finished with a season record of 7-5-2.“I hate our guys are not still playing, but we were playing our best at the end. Our team came a long way this year,” commented head coach Steven Price.
Cardinals 2, MCHS 0
Seniors Graham Churchwell scored both of Adamsville’s goals on assists by Walker Lacey. Price felt that all his senior players contributed in the win. “We played really well together tonight. It was a very exciting win for us. Our seniors did a great job leading us all night,” he said.
Goalkeeper Josh Shoate posted five saves in the win
Madison 4, Cardinals 1
Price did not believe the final score reflected how close his team’s final game actually was. They were trailing 2-1 with 5:30 left in the game. “We were still fighting,” he said. “We just couldn’t get one to go in.”
Walker Lacey scored the only Cardinal goal of the game on a penalty kick. Shoate recorded eight saves in the loss.
