Adamsville baseball splits four games on diamond
The Adamsville baseball team won two of their four games last week. The Cardinals picked up wins against JCM and Collinwood in non-district matchups. Adamsville lost a pair of district games to Scotts Hill and Trinity Christian Academy. The Cardinals are now 11-11 overall and 4-3 in district play.Cardinals 15, JCM 2
Adamsville scored eight runs in the second inning to help lead them to a five-inning victory over JCM. John Reed Odom (1-0) was the winning pitcher in the game. Odom pitched three innings. Jacob Wallis and Will Erwin also logged an inning for the Cardinals in the victory.
Josh Carroll and Drew Griswell each had two hits in the game for Adamsville. Carroll and Josh Chappell each hit solo home runs. Griswell had a triple in the game, and Bradley Melton added a double.
Cardinals 11, Collinwood 3
Adamsville outscored Collinwood 9-0 in the first three innings to pick up the win on Thursday afternoon. Kasey Hurley (2-2) was the winning pitcher for Adamsville in the game. Josh Chappell was the leading hitter in the game for the Cardinals by going 2-for-3. Eric Hammock had a solo home run for Adamsville. Chappell, Will Erwin, John Reed Odom, and Rob MacArthur each had a double in the game.
Scotts Hill 18, Cardinals 6
Adamsville took an early 4-2 lead after the first inning. John Reed Odom had a bases-loaded triple to plate three runs. However, Scotts Hill rallied for nine runs in the second inning to put them on top for good in the game.
Eric Hammock was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Josh Chappell and Will Erwin each had a RBI double in the game. Drew Griswell (0-3) was charged with the loss on the mound for Adamsville.
TCA 5, Cardinals 3
Trinity led 5-1 going into the fourth inning of play. The Cards put single runs on the board in fourth and seventh innings but were unable to catch up with their opponents. They had the bases loaded in the third but were unable to score a run.
Jalen Kendall (1-2) suffered the loss on the mound, giving up six hits. Hunter McSwain had the only extra base hit for the team with a double.
