Hardin County softball splits with Munford Cougars

The Hardin County softball team won two of their four games played last week. The Lady Tigers split a doubleheader against Munford last week. They also picked up a win against Scotts Hill and a loss against McNairy Central last week. The Lady Tigers are 9-10 overall and 1-5 in district action.

Lady Tigers 3, Munford 1

Hardin County scored two runs in the third inning on a two-run home run by Kristen Lackey to take an early lead. After Munford cut the lead to 2-1 in the sixth inning, the Lady Tigers added one more with a solo home run by Katie McGee in the seventh.

Lackey picked up the win for Hardin County. She allowed only one earned run in seven innings. The senior pitcher struck out three and only allowed four hits. Tatia Guinn was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Tigers offensively.

Lady Tigers 4, Scotts Hill 0

Kristen Lackey pitched a two-hit shutout in Hardin County’s 4-0 victory over Scotts Hill last week. Lackey struck out six batters in her seven innings of work. Katie McGee had three RBIs to lead Hardin County at the plate. Tatia Guinn was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Kaitlin Snyder had a RBI double. Lackey and Katie Terry each scored a run in the game for Hardin County.

Munford 13, Lady Tigers 5

Munford scored five runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Hardin County rallied back to tie the game at 5 in the fifth inning, but Munford scored four runs in each of the final two innings to pick up the eight-run victory.

Kristen Lackey, Tatia Guinn, Katie McGee, Karlie Roser, and Sheridan Rathai each had two hits for Hardin County. McGee picked up three RBIs in the game. Lackey and Guinn each scored two runs. Lackey was charged with the loss in the game.

McNairy Central 2, Lady Tigers 1

McNairy Central scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to give them enough to pick up the win. Hardin County scored their lone run of the game in the fifth inning. Karlie Roser had a RBI on a sacrifice fly that scored Kristen Lackey.

Lackey was 2-for-4 in the game for Hardin County. Katie McGee and Kaitlin Snyder also had a hit for the Lady Tigers. Lackey suffered the loss as she allowed only one earned run in six innings pitched. She allowed only four hits in the game.
