Tigers pick up district win against North Side
The Hardin County Tigers defeated Jackson North Side on Monday night by a score of 8-6 in a district contest. The victory finished off a week where the Tigers had a tough time offensively. Hardin County lost to Munford once and to USJ twice earlier in the week. They managed 15 hits in the three losses. Hardin County is now 9-12 overall on the season and 2-3 in district play.Tigers 8, North Side 6
Hardin County rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up the win against North Side on Monday night. The Tigers entered the inning trailing the Indians by a score of 6-4. They picked up the four runs on only one hit in the inning. Hardin County scored three runs on errant throws by the pitcher and the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk by Walker Vaughn.
The Tigers got run-scoring at-bats from Walker Vaughn, Cade Smith, and Joe Greer earlier in the game. Smith and Michael Davis each finished the game with a pair of hits.
Corey Jerrolds (2-2) was the winning pitcher. Jerrolds recorded the final four outs in the game, allowing only one hit. Justin Daniel pitched the first 5 2/3 innings, allowing only three earned runs while striking out seven batters.
Munford 4, Tigers 2
Munford scored one run in each of the first four innings to take the early lead. Hardin County scored both of their runs in the third inning but couldn’t get any closer. Corey Jerrolds scored on a wild pitch, and Mason Tidwell scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Cade Smith.
Jerrolds (1-2) was the losing pitcher for the Tigers. He allowed three earned runs in four innings of work. Joe Greer pitched two hitless innings of relief in the game. Greer was also the leading hitter in the game with a 2-for-3 performance.
USJ 12, Tigers 1
USJ scored four runs in the second and then exploded for seven runs in the third inning to lead them to a victory in Friday’s matchup. Hardin County scored their lone run of the game on a solo home run of the bat of Barker Burnham.
Burnham was the leading hitter in the game by picking up three of Hardin County’s five hits in the game. Joe Greer and Walker Vaughn also each had a hit. Dakota Lowe (1-3) was charged with the loss on the mound.
USJ 9, Tigers 2
USJ used a six-run third inning to propel them to a victory over Hardin County on Saturday afternoon. Hardin County scored single runs in the third and fifth innings. Barker Burnham drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning that scored Mason Tidwell. Tidwell drove home the other run on a ground out in the fifth inning that plated John Tyler Roach.
Jordan Lambert, Michael Davis, Barker Burnham, and Roach each had a hit in the game for Hardin County. Burnham (2-2) was charged with the loss on the mound. Corey Jerrolds pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the Tigers.
