Lady Cardinals have busy week
The Lady Cardinal softball team played six games in five days last week and came away with three wins. The played county rival McNairy Central twice and competed in the Covington Invitational tournament over the weekend. Adamsville won their first two games of the tournament before being eliminated. They are currently 6-7 on the season.Lady Cardinals 3, McNairy Central 2
The game was a pitcher’s duel the first two innings with neither team scoring. Adamsville got on the board first with one run in the third, but McNairy tied it up in the fifth. The Lady Cards added a run in the sixth, but McNairy again tied the game in the top of the seventh. Bailey Wicker drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Corrie Hill led the Lady Cards at the plate, going 2-for-3. Alaina Davis, Kasey Martin, and Halley Beckham each had a hit in the game. Beckham was the winning pitcher, giving up only two hits.

The Lady Bobcats avenged Tuesday’s one-run loss to the Lady Cards on Thursday. Head coach Todd McGee was discouraged by his team’s lack of offense.
“We had runners on base in six of the seven innings with a total of ten base runners. We must be able to score runs,” he said. Halley Beckham suffered the loss on the mound. Lani Rinks had a double, the team’s only extra base hit in the game.
Lady Cardinals 17, Germantown 0
The Lady Cards followed up their disappointing loss to McNairy with an impressive display of offense, scoring 17 while holding Germantown scoreless and giving up only one hit. Halley Beckham threw two innings, striking out four and giving up no hits. Samantha Oaks finished the game and struck out three.
Kasey Martin led the team at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double. Beckham and Madalyn Bruce also hit doubles in the win.
Lady Cardinals 7, South Fulton 1
Adamsville put multiple runs on the board again in their second game of the night on Friday, again holding their opponent to only one hit. Halley Beckham claimed the win on the mound for the second time that night. She struck out eight and only gave up one walk. Kasey Martin gave another good performance on offense, going 2-for-2 and hitting a double. Hillary Combs was 2-for-3 in the game.
Covington 13, Lady Cardinals 1
The Lady Cards struggled against the host team, getting only five hits and one run in their first game of the day on Saturday. However, McGee was not disappointed with his team at the plate. We had five hits and three walks against a team that is 24-1. I cannot be upset with that on offense. “Most of Covington’s hits came after our mistakes,” he said. Adamsville had eight errors in the game. The team allowed 13 runs but only one was earned.
Taylor Hutton suffered the loss on the mound. Lani Rinks was 3-for-3 at the plate, and Stephanie Combs had two hits in three at-bats.
Dyersburg 6, Lady Cardinals 3
Dyersburg drove in four runs in the first. Adamsville struck back with three in the third, but their opponents added two in their half of the inning to put away the victory.
Both teams had five hits and made three errors in the game. McGee was frustrated that his team had five hits, three walks, and were hit by three pitches but were unable to capitalize with runs. Halley Beckham suffered the loss on the mound, scattering five hits in the game.
