Lady Tigers win Hardin County Invitational

The Hardin County softball team defeated Riverside last week in the championship game to secure the Hardin County Invitational title. The Lady Tigers defeated Summertown in the semifinals and also picked up a win against Haywood last Tuesday in the tournament.

The Lady Tigers also played in a tournament in Jackson last weekend. Hardin County struggled at the plate as they suffered losses to Trinity Christian Academy and Milan. Hardin County is now 5-2 on the season.

Lady Tigers 5, Riverside 4 (Championship Game) (8 innings)

Kristen Lackey picked up a RBI single in the top of the eighth inning to give Hardin County the victory over Riverside in last week’s championship game of the Hardin County Invitational. Lackey finished the game 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. She also held Riverside to only one earned run in eight innings of work on the mound.

Tatia Guinn was 3-for-5 in the game. Beth Plunk also picked up a pair of hits with a 2-for-5 day at the plate. Katie McGee picked up two RBIs with a two-run single in the fifth inning.

Lady Tigers 4, Summertown 2 (Semifinals)

Hardin County rallied from a two run deficit with three runs in the third inning and a single run in the fifth. The Lady Tigers got a two-run double from Beth Plunk and a RBI double from Katie Terry in the third inning to help lead them to victory.

Tatia Guinn led the Lady Tigers at the plate by going 3-for-3. Plunk and Katie McGee each had two hits in the game. Kristen Lackey picked up the win. She allowed only one earned run in five innings of work.

Lady Tigers 15, Haywood County 0

Hardin County scored five in the first, four in the second, and six more in the third inning to defeat Haywood in just four innings. Katie McGee picked up the win in the game. She allowed only one hit in three innings.

Beth Plunk was 2-for-2 in the game with two runs scored and a RBI. Allie Boyd had three RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Kaitlin Snyder had two RBIs. Katie McGee scored three runs and Katie Terry crossed the plate twice in the victory.

Trinity Christian 4, Lady Tigers 0

Trinity Christian broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Lady Lions added two more runs in the fifth inning to set the final score.

Kristen Lackey suffered the loss for Hardin County. She allowed four earned runs in seven innings of work. Hardin County was held to only three hits in the game. Tatia Guinn picked up two of those hits. Lackey secured the other hit for the Lady Tigers in the game.

Milan 6, Lady Tigers 0

Milan scored three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the seventh to defeat Hardin County. The Lady Tigers were held to four hits in the game. Beth Plunk picked up two of those hits. Tatia Guinn and Kristen Lackey each had a hit in the game.

Katie McGee was charged with the loss in the game. She came into the game in relief of Lackey, who had to leave after being hit by a line drive in the third inning.
