Lady Cardinals win two of three
The Adamsville Lady Cardinal softball team won two of their three games last week. Adamsville picked up wins against Bolivar and Madison. They lost their game against Wayne County.The Lady Cardinals are now 3-2 on the season. They are scheduled to play in a tournament in Jackson this weekend, but the schedule was not available at press time.
Lady Cardinals 11, Bolivar 1
Adamsville used a seven-run third inning to help lead them to victory against Bolivar last Tuesday. Halley Beckham (2-1) was the winning pitcher in the game.
Corrie Hill had a big day at the plate with four RBIs. Beckham picked up three RBIs and also scored two runs. Madalyn Bruce, Stephanie Combs, and Whitney Wrezniewski each scored a pair of runs in the game. Hill and Alaina Davis each had two hits in the game.
Lady Cardinals 12, Madison 5
Adamsville scored six runs in the second inning and five runs in the third to take an 11-4 lead. Madison couldn’t get any closer as the Lady Cardinals cruised to a win in their first district contest of the season.
Whitney Wrzesniewski and Stephanie Combs each finished the game 3-for-5. Madalyn Bruce, Corrie Hill, and Kasey Martin each picked up two hits in the game. Halley Beckham (3-1) was the winning pitcher in the game.
Wayne County 3, Lady Cardinals 2
Wayne County led the game 3-0 after scoring two runs in the second and a single run in the third. Adamsville rallied for two runs in the fourth inning, but couldn’t pull even in the fourth and final inning. Stephanie Combs and Corrie Hill each scored a run in the fourth inning rally. Combs and Halley Beckham each had two hits in the game. Beckham (1-1) was charged with the loss.
