Lady Tigers open season

Hardin County opened the season on Monday with a pair of victories against Scotts Hill and McNairy Central to start their 2010 season with a 2-0 record. The Lady Tigers exploded for 21 runs in their two games.

Lady Tigers 13, Scotts Hill 2

Hardin County scored nine runs in the first inning to lead them to victory against Scotts Hill in their first game of the season on Monday. The Lady Tigers added four more runs in the second inning.

The biggest blow in the first inning came on a three-run inside-the-park home run by Karlie Roser. Roser hit the ball to right field, and the fielder fell going after the ball. Roser came around to score and also drove home two others. Allie Boyd had a two-run single in the inning. Kristen Lackey and Beth Plunk also had run-scoring hits in the first inning.

Lackey and Plunk each finished the game with two hits in the game. Plunk also joined Roser with three RBIs in the game. Sheridan Rathai joined Boyd with two RBIs in the game. Lackey (1-0) picked up the win for the Lady Tigers. She allowed only two earned runs in four innings of work.

Lady Tigers 8, McNairy Central 4

After falling behind 4-0 after the top of the first, Hardin County rallied to score eight runs over the next two innings to pick up the win against the Lady Bobcats. The Lady Tigers scored four runs in each of the first two innings.

Beth Plunk had a two-run triple in the first inning to get Hardin County on the scoreboard. Katie Terry and Sheridan Rathai also had RBI singles in the first inning.

Plunk added another RBI single in the second inning. Tatia Guinn also had a RBI single in the second inning. Kristen Lackey (2-0) picked up the win for Hardin County. Lackey allowed four earned runs in the complete game victory.
