Body found in Tennessee River
Feb. 9– Hardin County volunteer firefighters located a floating body this afternoon believed to be that of a man suspected of jumping off a bridge across the Tennessee River at Savannah.
"He fits the description" of 49-year-old local resident Greg Willoughby, according to county fire chief Melvin Martin.
The body was discovered in Hardin County at 3 p.m. about a half mile north of the Cravens Landing boat ramp near the shore and entangled in some brush or tree limbs. Members of the Cerro Gordo Volunteer Fire Department were patrolling the river in search of Willoughby as they have for days.
Martin said family members have been notified and an autopsy has been ordered.
Willoughby's white 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck was found abandoned on the U.S. 64 bridge at Savannah on Jan. 5.
