Man bludgeoned by masked suspects in Halloween night attack

Nov. 3– Savannah police are investigating an armed Halloween night assault involving two masked attackers at an East Main Street home.

Investigator TJ Barker said James Plunk, 28, received a wound to the top of his head that required stitches when he was struck with a pipe in the incident which occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Plunk and David A. Clark, 31, who share the residence where the aggravated assault took place, told police they were unable to identify the assailants.

According to authorities, Clark said someone knocked on the door and Plunk asked who was there.

Clark said his children, ages 8 and 10, looked outside and saw a gray-colored sport utility vehicle.

Thinking it was the mother of the children, Plunk opened the door and a man about 6’1" tall and weighing around 300 pounds started hitting him on top of the head with a pipe.

Clark said he was sitting in the living room and jumped up and took the pipe away from the man. At that point another person believed to be a woman tried to stab Clark with a knife.

Barker said both assailants then fled in the SUV.

The male attacker was wearing a gray ski mask, dark blue jeans and a brown Carhart jacket. The other had on a gray sweat suit and a white "ninja mask" or hockey mask.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Savannah Police Department at 925-3200.
