Hardin County Commission allocates funds to promote Worley River Run
Aug. 16– The Hardin County Commission on Monday allocated $10,000 to country music artist Darryl Worley’s Tennessee River Run charity event in September to cover advertising expenses.
The money comes from the county’s Tennessee River Resort District funds, which are generated by additional sales tax revenue the county retains through its resort district status, some of which must be used for tourism-related activities.
Commissioners also allocated $2,500 in TRRD funds to the Hardin County Fire Department for a fire training conference.
Property belonging to the county library, fire department and sheriff’s department was declared surplus by commissioners and will be sold at public auction. Items include assorted computer equipment, six vehicles, a 17-foot boat and an outboard motor.
A lease between the county, city of Savannah and American FoodService was renewed for one year.
For $1,500 monthly, the company rents from the city and county property adjacent to the Savannah campus of Jackson State Community College. Two-thirds of the rental income goes to the county, and one-third to the city.
In other business, Commissioners Wally Hamilton, Gary Combs, David Childers, Nickie Cagle, Mike Fowler, Emery White and David Channell were appointed to another one-year term on the Hardin County Home for Aged board of directors.
