Motorcyclist killed in crash with pickup
July 5– An Illinois motorcyclist was killed in Hardin County on the Fourth of July when he turned in front of a pickup truck on Tenn. 57, three miles west of Counce.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Charles T. Carlson, 64, of Farmer City, was driving a 2006 Honda GTS motorcycle west on the highway at the intersection of Tenn. 142.
Carlson turned south in front of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado traveling east on Tenn. 57 and operated by 16-year-old Levi M. Pickens of Michie.
The 11:47 a.m. collision occurred in the eastbound lane of Tenn. 57 and both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lane.
Carlson, who died, was wearing a helmet. Pickens was wearing a seatbelt and was not reported injured.
