Savannah man killed in two-vehicle crash near Michie
May 16– A Savannah man died and two others were injured early Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in McNairy County, three miles southwest of Michie.
Tony E. Sweat, 51, was killed when the 2003 Nissan Altima in which he was a passenger collided head-on with a 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven by Douglas W. Sims, 50, of Michie, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Trooper Jason Kirk said Sims was westbound on Tenn. 17 in a 55 mph zone when he crossed the center line.
The Jeep struck the Nissan traveling east on the highway and operated by Deborah K. Haymans, 51, of Sardis, Tenn.
Sims and Haymans were both injured in the crash reported at 1:26 a.m.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville.
