Luckless burglar still unlucky
Dec. 22– An owner of a Florence Road business caught a crowbar-wielding burglar and held him at gunpoint, according to Savannah police.
Shelby’s RV has been the victim of thefts or burglaries several times recently, and Carson Shelby was still there minding the store Tuesday night at 11:30.
Police said Shelby apprehended 38-year-old Jason F. Blunt of Tishomingo, Miss., as he was breaking into a Coke machine at the business and kept him there until officers could arrive.
When they arrived, Blunt was "face down on the ground, with a crowbar laying to the side of his body."
Blunt reportedly confessed to the crime and told officers he was trying to steal the money from the soft drink vending machine because he was "down on his luck."
