Two die in one-vehicle crash

Dec. 2– Two local residents died in a one-vehicle crash last night on Tenn. 57, two miles west of Counce.

Killed were driver Donovan Lynn Barnes, 39, and passenger Courtney Mancell, 20, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Barnes was driving a 2003 Honda west on the highway on a curve in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle went off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

Barnes was not wearing a safety belt. Mancell, who was in the right front passenger seat, was wearing a safety belt in the 8:41 p.m. crash, Trooper Samuel Bryant reported.
