Three more weeks of summer vacation for Hardin County students

Aug. 2– Hardin County public school students will be going back to class this month after a summer vacation nearly three weeks longer than normal.

To accommodate construction of two new 550-student elementary schools and improvements at all but one of the county’s other educational facilities, the start of the 2010-2011 school year had to be pushed back.

Initial attendance dates for all grades this year will be on a staggered schedule.

Parents of kindergarten students should pick up an attendance schedule on registration day for all students, Aug. 19, at the school their child will attend. Parents of Pre-K students will be notified by the school as to whether or not their child will be enrolled in the Pre-K program, and then given a schedule of when their child will attend.

For grades 1-5, fifth graders will first attend only on Wednesday, Aug. 25; second and fourth graders only on Thursday, Aug. 26; and first and third graders only on Friday, Aug. 27. All students in grades 1-5 will begin attending every day on Monday, Aug. 30.

For students attending Hardin County Middle School, sixth graders will attend only on Aug. 26; seventh and eighth graders will attend only on Aug. 25. On Friday, Aug. 27, all middle school students will attend.

At Hardin County High School, freshmen will attend on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 26-27. Sophomores will attend only on Aug. 27. Juniors and seniors will attend only on Wednesday, Aug. 25.

All HCHS students will attend on Monday, Aug. 30.
