TVA closes fishing access around Pickwick Dam
May 21– The Tennessee Valley Authority will close public access around Pickwick Dam during modifications to the hydroelectric plant’s switch yard and powerhouse beginning Saturday.
As part of the work, power lines are being repaired and wooden poles replaced.
Concerned that some deteriorated poles may break during the project, TVA has decided to close the area to anglers and the general public until the work is completed.
TVA said the property and water around the dam and powerhouse are expected to be closed through Sunday, May 30. Barring another severe rain event, any spilling from the dam during this time is a result of the turbines being out of service, not flooding.
To keep anglers away from dangerous areas during the restoration project, TVA Police will be on patrol.
