Hamburger defense wins dismissal of drug charges

May 18– Drug charges against a local resident nabbed in a meth lab raid in Walnut Grove were dismissed today in Hardin County General Sessions Court.

The innocent man, Timothy Morris, 37, 35 Ronnie Lane, said it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sessions Court Judge Danny Smith threw out the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent, and initiation of methamphetamine manufacture.

Morris told The Courier he was outside the 5245 Tenn. 69-S home of his cousin Richard Hutton when the May 7 bust took place because he was delivering Hutton a hamburger.

Despite the dismissal of the charges filed by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and 24th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Morris says the incident cost him $1,500 to hire an attorney.
