Upcoming Savannah Main Street Festival invites veterans to display items
April 5– The 2010 Main Street season will feature three Savannah Main Street Festivals, with each to be held on Court Square in Savannah on May 15, July 31 and Oct. 16.
Each festival has uniquely themed activities and also includes trolley rides, vendors and live music.
The first Main Street Festival is a salute to America’s Armed Forces Day and will feature several patriotic activities on May 15, from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Main Street Director Judy Flanagan is inviting all those who have military items for display to call her at City Hall, 925-3300, ext. 105.
"I don’t want anyone to miss out on the chance to display something," said Flanagan.
Call Flanagan by April 14 to arrange for display of military items.
Other activities on May 15 will be posting of the colors by the American Legion, proclamation to be read by Mayor Bob Shutt, members of "The New Outlaws" to sing the national anthem, rib cook-off contest and more.
