March 2– In the interest of encouraging reader participation, The Courier is changing its long-standing policy of not accepting for publication letters to the editor which endorse political candidates.

To be considered, "Readers Write" letters should be concise as possible and focus on issues of public concern. Criticism is acceptable, but personal attacks are not.

Crude language, lack of clarity and libelous statements will cause letters to be rejected. Discourse should be civil.

The Courier will not knowingly publish factually incorrect information.

All letters are subject to editing.

Letters must be signed and include the writer’s street address and a phone number which will be used for verification purposes only.

In all instances, letters are published on a space available basis at the discretion of the editor.
