Local charity has extra free food
Feb. 18– A Savannah charitable organization says it has more food than usual to give away to the needy.
Helping Hands, 1180 Wayne Road, regularly distributes food to qualifying low-income people on the last Saturday of the month.
But in February, Helping Hands received a grant of 200 additional boxes of food. With only 100 individuals signed up at this time, some 200 boxes are still available.
Friday, Feb. 26, is the deadline to register for the food, which will be distributed the following day from the facilities building at First Assembly of God, 115 Harbert Drive in Savannah.
For more information, call Helping Hands at 731-727-5629.
