Crump beer hearing delayed
Jan. 5– A Hardin County Chancery Court hearing set for this morning involving a dispute between the city of Crump and local nightspot Big Daddy’s has been postponed.
Barry Webb, proprietor’s of Big Daddy’s on U.S. 64, has been granted a restraining order by the court temporarily preventing the city from enforcing its beer ordinance requiring the business to stop selling beer at midnight. In addition to a city beer license, Webb has a state liquor by the drink license that allows him to sell liquor until 3 a.m.
Wanting to sell beer until 3 a.m., Webb filed a petition with the court seeking to reconcile the state liquor sale hours of operation with the city’s beer sale hours.
Crump City Recorder Pam Hardy said the hearing was delayed because an attorney recently assigned to the case by the city’s insurer, the Tennessee Municipal League, needed time to prepare.
