Adamsville calls time out on deannexation
Dec. 22 - Despite recent official notifications to city residents, Adamsville commissioners stalled talks Monday on a move to deannex land along Tenn. 22-N currently within the city limits.
During discussion on the possible deannexation, Adamsville City Administrator Terry Thrasher said the city recently mailed notices to property owners in the areas under consideration.
Residents affected by the deannexation would include those along Glen Abernathy Road and areas which continue north to the city’s current limits.
Thrasher says affected residents would no longer pay Adamsville city property taxes but face higher garbage, water and natural gas bills if the deannexation is approved.
At Thrasher’s request, commissioners tabled the matter until January.
