Polls open for Hardin County sales tax referendum
Dec. 1– UPDATED at 3:25 p.m.– Today is Election Day in Hardin County.
On the county-wide ballot is a controversial referendum to decide if the local option sales tax rate should be reduced from the current 2.5 percent, to 1.5 percent.
To keep the sales tax rate unchanged, vote "Against". To lower the sales tax rate, vote "For".
Polls opened at 8 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
The Hardin County Election Commission reports that as of early afternoon, none of the 19 voting precincts had recorded as many as 100 ballots.
Look for the final election results to be posted here and on The Courier's Facebook page tonight as soon as the vote is tallied.
