Fire guts Christmas display
Nov. 25– A mobile Christmas display belonging to the city of Savannah was heavily damaged in a fire Tuesday evening.
The blaze broke out about 5 p.m. and is believed to be electrical in origin, according to the Savannah Fire Department.
A spokesman said arson is not suspected.
One of two single-wide trailers housing a collection of holiday figures, some animated, was gutted on one end.
The display was donated to the city by Savannah businessman Jim Kerr.
In addition to serving as a static exhibit on a vacant Wayne Road lot next to Sonic, the trailers have appeared in the annual Savannah Christmas parade.
