School board refutes Pickwick Southside rumors
Nov. 3– Parents and pupils at Pickwick Southside School concerned that grades 6-8 will soon be eliminated at the school should rest easy, according to the Hardin County Board of Education.
Monday night, the board made a public statement that the middle school at Pickwick Southside School will stay at Southside and not be moved during the 2010-2011 school year, according to Director of Schools John Thomas and board Chairman David Long.
“Hopefully, this will stop the unfounded rumors that are going around,” said Thomas.
The statement comes after a story in last week’s Courier. Parents reported they and students were hearing this would be the final year for grades 6-8 at Pickwick Southside, after which students in those grades would have to go to Hardin County Middle School in Savannah.
