Swine flu injections available at extended hours at Health Dept.

Oct. 22- The Hardin County Health Department is now offering a limited amount of the H1N1 injectable vaccine today from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
The vaccine will be provided at no charge. To make an appointment call the Hardin County Health Department at 925-2557.

The type of H1N1 flu vaccine being offered is injectable and will be offered to the following individuals on the dates listed above:
1. Pregnant women
2. Caregivers of children less that 6 months of age
3. Children 6 months through 18 years of age

If you are not among these groups, you will not be able to receive the H1N1 injectable vaccine on these dates. However you may be eligible for the Flu Mist vaccine, which can be provided to healthy persons ages 2–49.

According to the health department, no shortage of 2009 H1N1 vaccine is expected. However initially, only limited quantities and types of vaccine will be available. The Tennessee Department of Health reportedly expects to receive enough H1N1 vaccine in coming weeks so anyone who wants to receive it, can do so.

The local health department will continue to announce future H1N1 clinics as more vaccine becomes available. Also, information about upcoming clinics and vaccine availability is on the Tennessee Department of Health Web site at http://health.state.tn.us/H1N1.htm.
