Truck, train collide in Counce
Oct. 14– A truck struck a Kansas City Southern train in Counce where the rail line crosses Tenn. 57, according to Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin. There were no injuries and no derailment, he said, but up to 2,500 gallons of diesel fuel spilled. Some went into a ditch and from there into a nearby creek.
“We got the haz-mat team out and notified the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to come out and monitor it,” Martin said.
The collision at around 9:30 a.m. today involved a one-ton truck hauling a trailer. The impact with one of the two engines punctured a fuel tank.
