Billy Evans, of Savannah, departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 30, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 9 days.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1935, the son of the late Joe B. and Gladys Inez Yawn Evans. On Aug. 12, 1961, he was united in marriage to Katherine Richmond, who survives.
Billy was a journeyman sheet metal mechanic and welder for Local 33 in Columbus, Ohio, serving the local for 64 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathy of Savannah; children, George Evans and his wife Carolyn of Montville, Connecticut, Karen Chambers and her husband Dusty of Savannah, Judy Cannon and her husband Randy of St. George, Georgia, and Kenny Evans of St. George, Georgia; grandchildren, Brandy, Corey, Shannon, Jessica, Kyle and Kenny; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Kira, Sookie, Skylar, Jackson, Colton, Charlotte, Carson and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lavonia Goings and brother, Samuel Evans.
