Nona Corinne Plunk Root, 74, of Bethel Springs, died on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Dunedin, Florida, from esophageal cancer.
She was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to the late Tommie Corinne and Neville Nathaniel Plunk Sr. She was united in marriage to George Dunham Root Jr., who survives.
Mrs. Root was Catholic, and had been a school teacher and Girl Scout leader.
She is survived by husband, George Jr.; brother, Neville Nathaniel Plunk, Jr. (Ned); children, George Dunham Root III, Natalie Corinne Root, Nathaniel David Root; and two granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Plunk.
Services will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1318 E. Poplar Ave, Selmer, 38375 on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 12 p.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. A private graveside burial will follow.
