Carolyn Horton, of Savannah, was born in Frankston, Texas on Sept. 4, 1940, the daughter of the late Hershel and Olza Ophelia “Teagie” Perry Dunn. On June 6, 1958, she was united in marriage to Lee Paulk Horton Sr., who survives.
Carolyn departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 8 days.
Carolyn was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Savannah. She loved to cook and boasted a collection of 2,000 cookbooks. Known as the matriarch of her family, Carolyn helped all of her family at all times. She was known as a very giving and special woman.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her son, Lee Paulk Horton Jr. and wife Ada of Gulf Breeze, Florida; brothers, Preston Dunn and Hershell Allie Dunn; a sister, Betty McLeod; a grandchild, Harmonie Lee Horton; and two great-grandchildren, Journie Lee Seaton and Makenzie Louise Seaton.
Along with her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Ann Horton; and her sister, Barbara Morrison.

Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m., at Southside Baptist Church in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
